These yarns are spun by Filati Biagioli of Italy (the 3/80NM by Loro Piana). Made from the best cashmere and long staple cotton fibres they are still soft but give better stitch definition and feel crisper than the pure cashmere - ideal for lighter weight garments or baby items...

As 2/48NM yarns these give 4,000 yards per cone, 12,000 yards per lb, and should give around 50-60 stitches on a 4 inch swatch. Note that although these are balanced yarns because these are so fine we will happily wind multiple plies together on cone, for free (even say 1 cone of 6 plies), just tell us how many when you pay.

I'm using 4 strands of the 60%cashmere/40%cotton 2/48nm to knit the Mystic Waters Shawl KAL. Even unwashed this yarn is wonderfully soft and a delight to knit with. I have been pleasantly surprised...
This was knitted in the reversible pattern of 2 rows garter and 2 rows single rib. I got the hat and mitts and pushchair blanket out of one cone....

More Shetland patterns knitted with 85% cotton, 15% cashmere, on 2.5 mm needles. Again the stitch patterns are taken from an old Shetland shawl, and again, much easier to do than it looks!!
