cobweb and lace weight silk yarns

Spun by Loro Piana of Italy and other great spinners, the cobweb weight yarns are gorgeously smooth and, well, silky, with beautiful pale pastel and stronger colors.

We will happily wind multiple strands on cone for you (you still only buy the cones you want, ie you CAN have three plies to make up a fingering weight on one cone). Note that if you pay for twisting ($5 per cone) in the twisting options section we can also twist up thicker yarns, and some can be done in two stages (eg 3plies twisted together one way, 2 plies of that the other way) to greatly reduce the amount of twist left in the resulting thick yarn.

The 3/50NM balanced yarns give 2,750 yards per cone or 8,300 yards/lb, which is about 15% finer than our normal 2/28Nm lace weights. The 2/50NM cobweb weight yarns give 4,100 yards per cone and 12,500 yards per lb (which is pretty fine yarn...) and the 2/60s give 5,000 yards per cone and 15,000 ypp (which is a bit finer still)... and the 2/120s is even finer... nearly 10,000 yards per cone and 30,000 ypp..
