Sister's First Knitting Project using Colourmart Yarns (Sideways view)Sunday 24 May 2009 8:13:48 pm
My sister works at the B.B.C. and a number of staff there have decided to form a knitting club. I purchased this yarn last year - Extra fine merino 15/44NM dk wt 300g cone "Lime" to make a garment for me - but never got round to it. It was an absolute bargan then at £8.88 - less a discount!!! I made the mistake of showing the yarn to my sister who pleaded with me to let her have it. This is her first garment with Colourmart's yarns and she is extremely pleased with it. She purchased another cone a couple of weeks ago (Richard thankfully had one left!) Anyway, the garment took c 400 grams in total to make and I've now got the balance of the other cone. |

Cashmere "shiver" 1/3nm with a silver threadMonday 11 May 2009 2:31:14 am Unbelievably soft yarn. Everyone who touches the shawl squeezes it and puts it to their face as a sort of automatic reaction. I purchased this yarn maybe 2 years ago and hopefully will find some more again one day on the colourmart website. Pardon the crude blocking technique, but it worked. |

Baby Hats - Colourmart yarnsSunday 26 April 2009 11:29:07 am
Following a couple of big projects, I always find it quite satisfying making these little items in a way to try and reduce my stock of the bargain sets that I purchased some time ago from Richard. |

2/14 Cashmere StoleWednesday 08 April 2009 11:13:49 pm 2/14 Cashemere Stole, Gale pattern by Anne Hanson (Knitspot.com) knit on US7 needles. I made the large pattern size, as this is a lighter yarn than recommended in the pattern so finished it is a tad smaller than the large size dimensions. Yarn bloomed beautifully after three hot hand washes and a quick trip in the hot dryer. More details on Ravelry - GothamMuse. |

100% extra fine merino 15/44NM dk wt 300g cone pink frostFriday 13 February 2009 2:38:34 pm
I made this shawl with extra fine merino that I purchased in April of 2008. It is as soft as cashmere, but holds the stitch definition a bit better. It was an easy pattern and the merino just about knit itself. I was sad when it was finished. Oh, yes, it blocked like a dream. |

Work in progress - Yet another Traditional Danish Tie ShawlWednesday 04 February 2009 12:49:17 pm The latest design 2/7 nm - 100% Cashmere is going to be for my god-daughter who's going to be 12 in March. I'm still working on the 1st cone and so far it has gone a long way. I think I'll need 2 cones and am thinking of adding a 2" white stripe near the bottom - that'll go nicely with the white piping effect for the edge. Beverley |

Work in progress - another design for a friend's GrandsonMonday 26 January 2009 1:08:35 pm
I created a lovely toddler hat in shades of green, brown, pink etc. following my trip to SOAR (Spin Off Autumn Retreat) and the blending class with Debbie Menz. By accident when I decided to add the scar - I noticed that the scarf colours were similar to my handspun hat! Here's another attempt to "de-stash" using various Colourmart plies. Can't wait to wash it and to see it "bloom". This is for another friend whose 2nd grandson will be celebrating his 1st birthday next month. |

Latest design for Gillie's grand-daughterMonday 26 January 2009 1:01:30 pm One of our Guild members has become a grandmother for the 1st time. Her daughter in law specifically wanted something in cashmere for the baby - I think at the time it was a cashmere pyjamas! Anyway, Richard's free yarn - in the Sample Pack was a light blue angora/lambswool mix so Gillie gave that to me and in return I said I would make a cashmere hat for the baby. Incredibly soft. It's the remainder of the grey 1/20 NM yarn that I used for the Traditional Danish shawl and the bottom was 3 strands of red, fuscia pink and white plied together. |

Another Child's Hat/Scarf - 55%/45% Cashmere/Silk "Karma colourway" - Final useMonday 19 January 2009 1:07:18 pm The hat is for one child (less than 4 months old) and the scarf is for another child who's going to be one next month. The make the scarf go further, I added 4 strands of 1/20 yarns for effect. Well, that's the last of the Karma yarn which I had originally purchased last year to make mum's sweater. It most certainly has gone a very long way. |
