This topic should collect all the postings made on the individual product pages about items made with those yarns...

IF you post them from individual yarn pages your post will be linked to that yarn and show up on that page too, so please try and either match your post to the yarn or just add it here directly...

CLICK on the thumbnail to see the full size pictures, which can really show the detail in many cases...

Adding Yarn Links to Messages - TIPS

2009年 6月 10日 水曜日 2:04:45 pm

Until c 10 months ago (Richard will correct me if I am wrong) You used to be able to go to the relevant page and then send the message regarding the item you have made using that particular yarn or fibre from the relevant page. Then when the posting was made the link would automatically appear - it doesn't now.

HOWEVER, if you want to include the link (as I have recently done on my recent postings) This is how you do it.

1. Go to the relevant page of the yarn that you used to create the item. I
2. RIGHT Click the page address in the "ADDRESS" section - beneath the Green "Back" arrow and choose COPY
3. You then go to the "Edit Forum reply - New" section. In the "Message" at the end of your article, Right click again and choose PASTE

The address will then appear. Once you have sent your article for publishing, the link will be there and anyone clicking onto it will be taken direct to the page used by you to create the item.

Hope this little message has been of some use!

8/20nm linen/silk heavy DK wt: Swatch #3 - Turquoise

2009年 6月 01日 月曜日 11:40:04 pm

The 3rd swatch was knit using US 4/3.5mm Addi-Turbo needles. The finished swatch was 5in W x 4.5in H Measurements are 24st x 32r = 4in sq or 6st/in. The dimensions did not change with tumble-drying on medium-high heat. While knitting the sample it seemed a bit tight to me (I am used to lace knitting and loose sts). It was more a recognition of the absence of elasticity than anything else. I knit a textured, traveling st motif into the top of the swatch as it was featured in one of the designs I'm considering. The resulting texture was pleasing to my eye with nice definition. The fabric was a bit more dense than the others (no show-through), yet it was still fluid and soft--perfect for a cardigan or pullover. I liked this gauge even better after laundering when the fabric became even softer but not too stretchy or sagging. I plan to knit my project at this gauge...fingers crossed!

8/20nm linen/silk heavy DK wt: Swatch #2 Lime

2009年 6月 01日 月曜日 11:28:55 pm

The Lime sample was knit using US 5/3.75mm Addi-Turbo needles. The finished swatch measured 6in W x 5in H. Measurements were 20 sts/30r= 4in sq or 5 sts/in. Unlike the sample knit with size 6 needles, this swatch yielded a very nice fabric with good coherence and nice drape. The texture would be suitable for garments which do not demand a dense fabric or zero-show through as you may get a hint of show-through if knit in stockinette st. The swatch was maybe .5in. smaller in width after tumble-drying on medium-high heat, but the fabric easily stretched back to its original size with just a little tug. I call that ease I liked this fabric very much

8/20nm linen/silk heavy DK wt - Swatch #1: Fuchsia

2009年 6月 01日 月曜日 11:18:30 pm

The fuchsia yarn was my 1st sample. It was knit using US 6/4.0mm Addi-Turbo needles. The finished sample was 7in wide x 5.5in high. Measurements were 17sts/25r=4in sq or 4.25sts/in. This sample had a moderately open or loose texture and stretched a great deal widthwise. After washing and tumble drying the sample decreased in size about .5in in both width and height. Knit at this gauge, the fabric was rather open (notice the see-through in the photo pre-washing). While this gauge may be good for lace, is would not be suitable for most garments as they would sag and stretch out of shape. The deep red-violet color is lovely and did not bleed at all during laundering.

8/20nm linen/silk heavy DK wt - Swatch results

2009年 6月 01日 月曜日 11:06:48 pm

I asked Richard to send me some samples of the dk wt linen/silk yarn so I could make decisions about colors and yardage needed for a sweater project. I received 4 sample skeins, 3 of which were knit up, measured, washed & tumble dried, then measured again. The skeins weighed 7-8g and I knit the swatches by casting on 30 sts and knitting until the yarn was almost gone before binding off. This first photo is a visual comparison of all three swatches.

Overall I found the yarn to be pleasant to knit with. It is lightly spun so the yarn could be a bit splitty for some knitters, though I had little trouble with this. The description mentioned that the yarn was a bit "hairy" and I agree there is a bit of a halo, but it is very minimal. Once knit and washed, this halo is not noticeable. The textured stitches I knit into the turquoise sample showed nice defintion, good enough for cables and other textured sts, though I wouldn't go for a big Aran project with this yarn as it is too soft and drapey. The knitted samples had a lovely soft and drapey feel to them, esp. after washing. Shrinking was minimal to non-existent after tumble-drying on medium-high heat so I would not hesitate to machine wash and dry any item knit from this yarn, though I would treat it as a delicate item. After drying I noticed that the Lime and Fuchsia samples were biasing, esp. the lime swatch. This was easily corrected with blocking, however, so I doubt it will be a significant issue. There was only a hint of biasing in teh turquoise sample which was knit at the tightest gauge. The laundered samples were just delicious to the touch and would make for exceptional summer sweaters/tops. I call this yarn a real winner!

Sister's First Knitting Project using Colourmart Yarns (Sideways view)

2009年 5月 24日 日曜日 9:13:48 pm

My sister works at the B.B.C. and a number of staff there have decided to form a knitting club. I purchased this yarn last year - Extra fine merino 15/44NM dk wt 300g cone "Lime" to make a garment for me - but never got round to it. It was an absolute bargan then at £8.88 - less a discount!!! I made the mistake of showing the yarn to my sister who pleaded with me to let her have it. This is her first garment with Colourmart's yarns and she is extremely pleased with it. She purchased another cone a couple of weeks ago (Richard thankfully had one left!) Anyway, the garment took c 400 grams in total to make and I've now got the balance of the other cone.

This is a Debbie Bliss pattern and the Colourmart site where this yarn was purchased is

Cashmere "shiver" 1/3nm with a silver thread

2009年 5月 11日 月曜日 3:31:14 am

Unbelievably soft yarn. Everyone who touches the shawl squeezes it and puts it to their face as a sort of automatic reaction. I purchased this yarn maybe 2 years ago and hopefully will find some more again one day on the colourmart website. Pardon the crude blocking technique, but it worked.

Baby Hats - Colourmart yarns

2009年 4月 26日 日曜日 12:29:07 pm

Following a couple of big projects, I always find it quite satisfying making these little items in a way to try and reduce my stock of the bargain sets that I purchased some time ago from Richard.

Hope you like them. http://www.colourmart.com/eng/bargains/scrap_sets/scrap_sets

stole with 32/120 silk fir green

2009年 4月 23日 木曜日 5:17:49 am

hi!
this stole was knitted directly from the cone using 3.5 mm needles and it measures approx 170cm times 45cm.
the pattern is 'falling beech leaves' from 'a treasury of knitting patterns'.
the yarn is very beautiful and shiny, but sometimes the single threads are not twisted very tightly and it's easy to spoil; the pattern is simple to work but a little bit hard to memorize.
happy knitting

2/14 Cashmere Stole

2009年 4月 09日 木曜日 12:13:49 am

2/14 Cashemere Stole, Gale pattern by Anne Hanson (Knitspot.com) knit on US7 needles. I made the large pattern size, as this is a lighter yarn than recommended in the pattern so finished it is a tad smaller than the large size dimensions. Yarn bloomed beautifully after three hot hand washes and a quick trip in the hot dryer. More details on Ravelry - GothamMuse.

2/7NM e564 DK Weight 100% Cashmere - Colourway SPECKLED WINE - Finished Danish Traditional Tie-Shawl for Beverley's God-daughter

2009年 4月 07日 火曜日 1:18:28 pm

At long last I have finally finished the Shawl that I started to make for my goddaughter's birthday - which took place on the 15th March 2009. I'm hopefully going to see her over Easter so will be presenting this to her as the 2nd part of her present. Here I am modelling it.

Very pleased with the result and it took less than a cone to make!! This leaves me with another cone and a quarter left - not sure what I'm going to do next with this. I think she's going to love it - friends and colleagues who have seen it just love the colour - sadly I got the last 2 cones when I purchased this last June. The piping was another 2/7NM DK weight 159/d178 - colour way called Lilac Smoothie!!!

The pattern was the one I obtained from the Spin Off publication last year on Danish Traditional Tie-Shawls - the one used for the shades of grey equivalent - again using Colourmart - posted in October 2008.

100% extra fine merino 15/44NM dk wt 300g cone pink frost

2009年 2月 13日 金曜日 3:38:34 pm

I made this shawl with extra fine merino that I purchased in April of 2008. It is as soft as cashmere, but holds the stitch definition a bit better. It was an easy pattern and the merino just about knit itself. I was sad when it was finished. Oh, yes, it blocked like a dream.

Work in progress - Yet another Traditional Danish Tie Shawl

2009年 2月 04日 水曜日 1:49:17 pm

The latest design 2/7 nm - 100% Cashmere is going to be for my god-daughter who's going to be 12 in March. I'm still working on the 1st cone and so far it has gone a long way. I think I'll need 2 cones and am thinking of adding a 2" white stripe near the bottom - that'll go nicely with the white piping effect for the edge. Beverley

Work in progress - another design for a friend's Grandson

2009年 1月 26日 月曜日 2:08:35 pm

I created a lovely toddler hat in shades of green, brown, pink etc. following my trip to SOAR (Spin Off Autumn Retreat) and the blending class with Debbie Menz. By accident when I decided to add the scar - I noticed that the scarf colours were similar to my handspun hat! Here's another attempt to "de-stash" using various Colourmart plies. Can't wait to wash it and to see it "bloom". This is for another friend whose 2nd grandson will be celebrating his 1st birthday next month.

I've also just started another Traditional Danish Tie Shawl - this time for my god-daughter who will be celebrating her birthday in March.
