This topic should collect all the postings made on the individual product pages about items made with those yarns...

IF you post them from individual yarn pages your post will be linked to that yarn and show up on that page too, so please try and either match your post to the yarn or just add it here directly...

cardigan/shrug made with 10/36NM dk wt 55:45 cash/silk lemonade

2009年 1月 07日 水曜日 12:34:48 am

pattern "Circular Shrug" by Mary Jane Hall, from "Positively Crochet!"

made double stranded with 2 cones in total of the cash/silk, which is a joy to work with and to wear... i didn't dare to wash it hot with dishwashing liquid, so washed it with olive oil soap instead, as recommended in the knowledge base. i then washed it in the machine (front loader, wool programme) with wool&silk detergent and let it air dry. i don't think all the oil has come out yet, but it probably will, with time... =) i'm quite pleased with this because i love the yarn and stitch pattern, next time i'd make the next size up so it would be more of a cardigan than a shrug. i'm also thinking about maybe adding to the ribbing and/od adding a chinese knot closure... we'll see...

picture taken while it was air drying on our shower =)

christmas dress made from 10/28NM heavy dk wt 30/70 cashmere/wool scots pine

2009年 1月 06日 火曜日 9:04:17 pm

red stripe done in 5/14NM heavy dk wt 30/70 cashmere/wool cardinal
edging added from a japanese stitch pattern book "250"

pattern 108-7 sleveless dress from drops design found here

lengthened it a bit, added stripe to make it more interesting to look at and also more "christmassy"

used a little over two cones (luckily, i had three!) of the 10/28 and less that half a cone in total of the 5/14, but i used that double stranded on circular needles 4mm and 6mm

once i finished knitting and weaving in ends, i first washed and soaked it twice in really hot water and dishwashing liquid, then i put it in the washing machine (i have a very gentle miele front loader) with wool/cashmere detergent on the wool programme. then i dried it in the dryer. and i have to tell you, i absolutely LOVE what that treatment does to this yarn. stitch definition is excellent, it has not felted at all but fulled very very nicely and is now soft and wonderful and was much admired by my family. =)

navy & pink blazer made with 10/28NM heavy dk wt 30/70 cashmere/wool navy

2009年 1月 06日 火曜日 8:50:44 pm

done double stranded

sleeves started with two strands of the 5/14NM heavy dk wt 30/70 cashmere/wool nero navy (because i ran out of the 10/28 and was impatient to finish =)
edging done with one strand of the 5/14NM heavy dk wt 30/70 cashmere/wool nero navy and one strand of the 6/20NM dk wt 50/50 cashmere/wool fuchsia

pattern "Prepster" by Fay Lin, from "The Happy Hooker" by Debbie Stoller

used a 4mm hook and 5 cones of the 10/28, would have had plenty with a sixth cone. instead, i used about half a cone of the 5/14, but again double stranded.

the yarn goes wonderfully with the pattern, love the outcome, i wear it a lot and am already thinking of doing a second one. in fact, i'm looking at colours right now. =)

Baptismal Shawl

Baptismal Shawl

2009年 1月 04日 日曜日 7:14:08 pm

Wished to share my latest project using a ColourMart UK purchase. Hope this works, as it is my first time for publishing any of my works.
Baptismal Shawl is 60" square knitted on 2.5 mm needles using a 150 gm cone of white 100% Cashmere 1/28 nm.
Absolutely fabulous yarn - no knots, no twisting back on itself and the sheer joy of watching the final result after washing and blocking is wonderful.
Thank you for making these yarns available for my lace projects.
Elsa

Good Afternoon:

Wished to share the latest finished project using a ColourMart UK yarn purchase. 60" square Baptismal Shawl was knit on 2.5 mm needles using one 150 gm cone of white, 100% cashmere 1/28nm yarn. It is with the greatest pleasure that one realizes the beauty of the yarn once it 'blooms' after washing. It was a treat to work with as there were no knots, not twisting back on itself.
Will shop again.
Wishing all a very happy, healthy 2009.

Belated Christmas Danish Traditional Shawl for Issy!

2009年 1月 02日 金曜日 2:56:11 pm

I sent this off to my niece last Wednesday - her belated main Christmas present. I also sent her a pair of white short sleeved T-shirts plus a cute Silver Teddy bear necklace (with movable arms and legs) I thought the whole ensemble (big word for me!!!) would look good - especially with the white piping along the edge. That piping - though effective doesn't half take a long time!!! Mind you, I'm extremely pleased with the final outcome - hope she likes it too!

This was the left over yarn that I used for my mum's sweater ( posted on 9 September 2008 1:52:45 pm) Colourway was called "Karma" and the components were 55%/45% cashmere/silk heavy dk weight.

100% silk 32/120 dark lavender

2008年 12月 18日 木曜日 12:55:03 pm

This was my first time knitting with silk and I had no idea what to expect. After washing and blocking I thought it was a little stiff until I ran it through my hands to loosen the fibres and the result felt lovely. The pattern is Lace Ribbons Scarf by Veronik Avery published in Knitty.com.

Love the Dress - Lisa-Maria's pink pullover/dress made with 6/20NM dk weight 50:50 cashmere/wool

2008年 11月 26日 水曜日 1:55:43 pm

Hi Lisa-Maria - as a matter of interest, how many cones did it take to make the dress. I've "just" started the Karma (Cashmere/Silk) Traditional Danish Tie Shawl design for my niece with the left over yarn that I used for my mother's blue sweater. However, on reflection, I think (as a ten year old) she would probably more appreciate it as a dress. She's a right toy boy and wears a lot of jeans. From your description of how you were going to wear your design - I think this would work a treat.

pattern "pink chamapgne" on ravelry, by Ashley Adams Moncrief
made to fit bust size 36", knit skirt part for next size up, lengthened skirt

turned out too big after hand-washing with dishwashing liquid and air-drying, so tossed it in the washing machine (front loader) on the wool programme with wool-detergent and tumble-dryed it afterwards. came out a little short for a dress (for my liking, other people might well wear it at that lenght), so will now be worn over jeans. after the last wash, the fabric was warmer, fuzzier and softer than i ever could have imagined. i'm totally satisfied. yay!

Estonian Scarf w/ 1/16 alpaca

2008年 11月 22日 土曜日 1:27:18 am

This is a scarf I knit from the Knitted Lace of Estonia book. Here's the specifics:
yarn doubled and twisted by Colourmart, knit w/ US4 needles. Total amount used was 55g and blocked out to 14.5in X 52in.
It was knit off the cone, soaked in hot water plus Dawn detergent, wrung out (gently), and blocked out.

This is some amazing yarn!

This is woven 100% DK done on a Kromski Harp, 10 dpi, even weave. It looked terrible on the loom, but washed up fluffy and warm. Classy looking.

Sunset shawl in 2/28 Nm silk

2008年 10月 25日 土曜日 1:41:35 am

This shawl was woven using a network drafted pattern on 24 shafts, with a 4-shaft rosepath initial instead of the traditional 4-shaft twill initial. The warp is 2/28 Nm silk hand-dyed in 29 colors gradually fading from turquoise to fuchsia (it looks like a smooth color progression but is in reality 29 stripes less than 1/2" wide!). The weft is a non-Colourmart cashmere that I found in a thrift shop for $0.99/lb (possibly the find of the century!).

I sett this shawl at 45 ends per inch, which was possibly a little too close as the pattern did not beat square and the warp had a tendency to stick. If I were doing it over again I would sett it at 40-42 epi, and/or use a thinner weft. The cashmere I used was about 5600 ypp according to my McMorran balance.

More photos of the shawl can be seen on my blog, at http://travelingtiger.com/blog/2008/10/24/black-cashmere-wet-finished/ .

My first weaving project

2008年 10月 23日 木曜日 9:08:06 pm

After getting a rigid heddle loom for my b-day in september, I finally assembled it and started my "Wrap of many greens" last week. It uses a lot of different yarns, among them Colourmart cash/silk, cashmere, and soft silk in different weights. The final wrap is not so large - approx. 55x150 cm ex. fringe - but I really like it.

needle size for swatches

2008年 10月 22日 水曜日 3:13:46 pm

Another way to remember the size needle used for a swatch is to tie knots in the yarn tail corresponding to the size needle used. A great help weeks later when those 5 knots tell you a size 5 needle was used.

heartland shawl with colourmart DK silk

2008年 10月 21日 火曜日 4:09:16 pm

a beautiful DK weight silk in a slightly slubby Chestnut colour - this is not a shiny silk but more like a raw silk with bits of other color to give it a tweedy appearance
I love the finished shawl -
