I bought a beautiful cashmere scarf in a market in Paris last week. It is possible that it was made and dyed in India. After wearing it for one day I noticed that the dye was rubbing off on my clothing and skin. Can anyone suggest a way to set the dye in my scarf? Unfortunately, I cannot return it since I have returned to the US.

Try soaking in salt solution?

I think you can try soaking your scarf in some salt (Malaysian traditional way of setting dyes) or vinegar water for those items dyed with acid dyes for a few minutes and then rinsing it out. I know the salt water solution helps with a lot of my outfits which come from India or Pakistan and bleed. Just a few tablespoons of salt in a about a basinful of water should be fine. Hope this helps!
